Summary
Corns and calluses are areas where the skin has thickened usually due to continual rubbing or pressure in a localized area. Usually this happens on the feet or hands. Calluses are more distributed over a larger area where a corn is more localized. The thick dead skin may cause pressure, especially with a corn, and become very painful. This is common on the feet and toes.
Tight or loose shoes, not wearing protective gloves and other common situations are often the root cause of these problems.
