Summary
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic defect that occurs when
both parents carry the defective gene.
Statistically 1:3000 births of white parents will result
in this problem. The defective gene causes the
normal mucus fluid in the respiratory tract to be
unusually thick and sticky. This in turn affects
both the respiratory system and the digestive system.
The heavy mucus clogs the airways to the lungs and also
affects the pancreas. Further complications occur
as the lungs become more susceptible to infections.
Because the pancreas is a vital organ in the digestive
system the affect on this organ disrupts normal
digestive functions.
Symptoms may be seen at birth and include: no bowel
movements in first days, failure to gain weight
normally. Later symptoms to the digestive system
include: severe constipation, gas, bloating, foul and
light colored stools. Symptoms in the respiratory
system may include: congestion, increased mucus,
coughing, shortness of breath, and fatigue.

Suggested protocols:
Nighttime: Diffuse nightly (all
night if possible) 10 drops each of eucalyptus and
melaleuca.
Twice daily: Morning after bathing
and bedtime massage the chest, throat, and back using
the blend below. Half of the blend on chest and
throat, half on the back. After a week substitute
this blend with Breathe for 3 days then return to the
blend. Repeat. (These massages will act both
as an expectorant and prevent airway infections)
· 3 drops frankincense
· 3 drops cypress
· 3 drops eucalyptus
· 3 drops melaleuca
· 10 drops coconut carrier
As the symptoms rescind, cut back on frequency
as necessary.
Added protection: Put OnGuard and peppermint on
the feet every morning. Put Breathe on the feet every night
and cover with
socks.
Emergency attack: Deep
inhalation of Breathe or a eucalyptus and melaleuca
blend by making a steam tent, with a bath, or in a
shower with the plug drained (5 or 6 drops of oil).
Protect the eyes.
Experiences and Testimonials of others
Joanna - Where
do I find this MS Protocol someone has mentioned?
Also is there one for Cystic Fibrosis?
Pat - A number of MS sufferers
submitted a variety of protocols and we put together a
protocol for MS
that so far has proven successful.
I have a friend whose little boy has CF and she has
been using frankincense with some incredible results.
She puts it on the bottom on his feet, along his spine
and because he had an eye problem she was also putting
it around the eye bone.
energy4life - The husband of a
friend of mine has cystic fibrosis, and is closely
monitored by his doctors. In November, my friend bought
a diffuser and some oils. Right around that time, they
both got H1N1, and were very ill. The H1N1 turned into
pneumonia for my friend (thankfully, not for her husband
though.) They diffused lots of lemon throughout this
time, as well as geranium.
On an outing this evening, my friend announced to
everyone that if it wasn't for the doTerra oils and her
diffuser, she is sure that she would have ended up in
the hospital. Then she told me that her husband went for
an MRI last week, to track his cystic fibrosis, and his
doctors were very excited to see that his lungs are in
comparable condition to what they were 10 years ago.
Apparently a big improvement from the last MRI. Most
significantly, the lower portion of his lungs were in
excellent condition (it is not good if there is a lot of
congestion very deep in the lungs, for a cystic fibrosis
patient). I was thrilled to hear this, and just want to
share about what a great oil geranium is! I have also
used it with another person for shingles with excellent
results.
Carla - My
friend's daughter has been having really bad problems
with cystic fibrosis. I found a reference for
diffusing geranium. Does anyone know other oils or
uses that would help?
Ramona - This is totally off the
cuff, but I would think Breathe would help a lot for the
respiratory aspect of Cystic Fibrosis.
Alisse - I have
a nephew with CF. What does the geranium do?
Pat - Geranium increases blood flow,
detoxifies, regenerates tissues and nerves, may balance
the sebum, which is the fatty secretion in the sebaceous
glands.
Julie Ann - I
have a friend who needs to know what to do for Cystic
Fibrosis?
Energy4life - I have a client who
has CF. He is also allergic to eucalyptus (yes, the
whole natural tree!) so he can not use Breathe. What has
worked extremely well for him are frankincense and
geranium. Especially geranium. Look for oils that are
mucolytic (or anti-mucolytic-- I have seen it referred
to both ways!). Diffusing is what I would recommend.
Elaine - My
neighbors grandson has just been diagnosed with
cystic fibrosis. What do you recommend?
Kathy - My experience is that a blend of 50%
eucalyptus and 50% melaleuca diffused together can be
most helpful. I would get a diffuser that can run
all night. Put it by the bedside with about 10
drops each of eucalyptus and melaleuca. This will
help with his nights and reduce the overall mucus in his
lungs.
I would also do twice-daily (morning after bathing
and bedtime) chest, throat and back massages using;
· 3 drops frankincense
· 3 drops cypress
· 3 drops eucalyptus
· 3 drops melaleuca
· 10 drops coconut carrier
Massage half of the blend into the chest, the other
half goes on the back.
Switch to Breathe blend every week for 3 days.
This (these) blend(s) will act as an expectorant and
will help with airway infection.
Put OnGuard and peppermint on his feet every morning.
Put Breathe on his feet every night, cover with
socks.
If he is old enough, consider the antibiotic blend of
frankincense, oregano and OnGuard in a capsule to treat
chronic and acute infections.
If he experiences a bad "attack" they can make a
steam tent with the eucalyptus and melaleuca OR Breathe
blend. Make sure he closes his eyes when breathing
in the fumes.
Put Breathe in his bath (careful of eyes) or plug his
shower drain and put 5 or 6 drops of Breathe in the
water as he showers.
As his symptoms rescind, you can cut back on frequency
as necessary.
Make sure he has LOTS of water; augment it with
peppermint and lemon (this will help his digestion).
He needs quality nutrition and lots of active/outdoor
lifestyle!!
Rob - Massage Breathe on his chest daily. Put
it on his feet in the morning and have him drink
peppermint with his water or juice daily.
BK - Also I would kindly recommend that you apply a
heated compress to the back and chest after oil
applications for cystic fibrosis or other bronchial
issues.

Help from Julia's Natural Kitchen
Abscesses are nature's way of
purifying the body, by bringing toxins and waste materials
all to one place, so that it can easily be drawn out. Pus is
formed by the loss of organic sulfur from the cells,
therefore herbs that contain organic sulfur, such a garlic,
can be used to rebuild and prevent this condition.
In general, the brighter and
tighter the redness, the smaller the abscess; the softer
feeling and darker colored, the larger the abscess. A thick
yellow pus is considered healthy, where a thin watery
greenish pus is considered infected and unhealthy.
Abscesses heal when the
discharge stops and the cavity of the abscess begins to
close.
According to Dr. J. Christopher “The
basic cause of all abscesses, tumors, cysts, etc., stems
back to an impure bloodstream, with its major cause being
improper food intake. This condition causes poor action of
liver and bowels, a faulty digestion, or disturbances in the
lymphatic glands are generally responsible for the
accumulation of impurities in the blood.”
Poultices will bring the abscess to
a head and clean it out.
A poultice made of 1 part
Lobelia and 3 parts Mullein is very effective in drawing out
the toxins as well as relieving pain
· A poultice made of hot
onions put directly over the abscessed area
Add a few drops of an
essential oil of choice to the poultice for added effect.
How to make a poultice:
Dried Herb Poultice
Grind dried herbs into a
powder with a mortar and pestle, and add enough warm water to
make a paste. The paste should be thick enough to be applied
to the affected area, but it shouldn't be stiff.
Spread the herbal mixture over
a piece of gauze, cotton or muslin that is large enough for
the affected area. Clean the affected area before placing
the poultice on it, and wrap the poultice with a towel or
plastic wrap and secure it into place. Keep the poultice on
for anywhere from 1 to 24 hours depending applying a fresh
poultice as needed.
Fresh Herb Poultice
Chop up about 1/2 cup of the
fresh herb and mix with 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Simmer
herbs and water for about 2 minutes. Squeeze out excess
moisture, but don't drain. Spread the herbal mixture over a
piece of gauze, cotton or muslin that is large enough for
the affected area. Clean the affected area before placing
the poultice on it. Wrap the poultice with a towel or
plastic wrap and secure it into place.
Keep the poultice on for anywhere from 1 to 24 hours
depending applying a fresh poultice as needed.
Once the abscess has burst and pus has drained off, apply
a poultice of comfrey leaves or root.
Dr. Mom the Kitchen:
Garlic Tea
1 small garlic clove minced
and mashed with a ½ tablespoon of honey
Juice of ¼ lemon with 2-3
drops of CPTG Lemon Essential Oil
1 teaspoon of mint or sage
½ teaspoons minced parsely
Let steep for at least 10
minutes and strain. Drink the same day if using mint,
however, if using sage it can be kept in the refrigerator
and will be good for two days.
