Summary
Overview: For less severe problems cypress or helichrysum oil may be very useful. Cypress is an astringent, which causes shrinkage of tissue, and will shrink the painful protrusions.
Application: Applying neat will prove successful for some and other will find it to be too strong and painful to these sensitive tissues. Most effective is a sitz bath (only the hips and buttocks are soaked) with 4-6 drops of cypress oil added to the warm water bath. This should be repeated once or twice a day until noticeable relief is gained. If a bath is not feasible, make a 25% dilution with a good carrier oil and gently apply topically to the affected area once or twice a day.
Other oils that will help hemorrhoids include: Frankincense is also an astringent and may be useful. Lavender can be used concurrently with the other oils to help manage the pain.
Safety Precautions: For severe hemorrhoid conditions consult a licensed medical professional.
