Low testosterone levels in males can occur as early as
birth or during childhood but the more common occurrence is
in adult males. The medical measure of testosterone in
the body is in nanograms per deciliter (ng/dl). The
average among males is approximately 700 ng/dl at age 25 and
steadily reduces to about 500 ng/dl at age 60. 300 ng/dl
would be considered a normal but low number.
The reasons for reduced levels of testosterone can come
from a variety of conditions. WebMD lists this summary
of potential causes:
Injury to the testicles
Testicular cancer or treatment for testicular cancer
Chronic liver or kidney disease
Type 2 diabetes
Symptoms of low levels can include fatigue, loss of
concentration, decreased sex drive, erectile dysfunction and
with extremely low levels can also include hot flashes and
physical changes such as decreased muscle mass, beard or
body hair, etc.

Experiences and Testimonials of others
My husband is only 32 and has been very
irritable and tired lately. The doctor just
called and said that his testosterone levels
are very low. Lower than low, he said. What
oil could I use to help with this??
Heather - Sandalwood is supposed to up
levels of testosterone. Suggested hormone regulation for men
is Clary Sage, Sandalwood or Geranium (1-2 drops in 1 Tspn
FCO) applied topically to testes and to bottoms of feet.
Aromatic: 1-2 drops on hands or diffuse to inhale oil. (from
For Him section of Essential Oils for Maternity)
Energy4life - Vitamin D is a precursor
for testosterone... if you don't have enough vitamin D in
your body, you can't make testosterone (or estrogen). So, in
addition to the oils recommended, get out in the sunshine
with no sunscreen for at least 20 minutes a day, exposing a
good percentage of the skin to direct sun (but not to the
point of sunburn of course).
Pat - Rosemary is a good oil for him to
try also Balance, Clary Sage, Geranium and Sandalwood. These
should be put on the reflex points of his feet.
Debbie - I have a
need to know if there is an essential oil that would help
with a male to naturally build the testosterone levels in
his body and reduce the estrogen dominance levels that have
brought about belly fat? He knows his hormonal level is out
and just wants to do something naturally without side
effects to restore those levels in his male body to normal.
Larissa - I have not found an oil that
works for this, so maybe someone else out there will know.
In my experience, I have always found that the best way to
balance that is with natural progesterone cream.
Pat - Oils that would be good for this
situation are Clary Sage, Sandalwood or Geranium. You should
muscle test these to see what would be best. Is his prostate
enlarged? If he is having frequent urination due to enlarged
prostate he should do equal amounts of Frankincense and
Helichrysum, put some on the hands and rub the oil behind
the testicles in front of the anus. Do this every morning
after the showerThe LLV supplements will make a big
Lil - A friend is
asking what doTERRA oils he could use for hormonal support
for adequate testosterone levels. Any suggestions?
Rob - My experience is that it takes
some problem solving. There are so many different causes and
factors that the most productive solutions are practically
endless. first, I would completely eliminate refined
sugars. This might be the single most important thing he
can do to change hormonal imbalance. Also, drink lots of
water, room temperature, no ice with 3 or so drops of Lemon
oil. Use Grapefruit daily on the lymph nodes, then consider
doTERRA Balance, Clary Sage, Geranium, Cypress,
Frankincense, or Vetiver. Apply using back massage followed
by a hot compress. Or neck and shoulder massage.

Abscesses are nature's way of
purifying the body, by bringing toxins and waste materials
all to one place, so that it can easily be drawn out. Pus is
formed by the loss of organic sulfur from the cells,
therefore herbs that contain organic sulfur, such a garlic,
can be used to rebuild and prevent this condition.
In general, the brighter and
tighter the redness, the smaller the abscess; the softer
feeling and darker colored, the larger the abscess. A thick
yellow pus is considered healthy, where a thin watery
greenish pus is considered infected and unhealthy.
Abscesses heal when the
discharge stops and the cavity of the abscess begins to
According to Dr. J. Christopher “The
basic cause of all abscesses, tumors, cysts, etc., stems
back to an impure bloodstream, with its major cause being
improper food intake. This condition causes poor action of
liver and bowels, a faulty digestion, or disturbances in the
lymphatic glands are generally responsible for the
accumulation of impurities in the blood.”
Poultices will bring the abscess to
a head and clean it out.
A poultice made of 1 part
Lobelia and 3 parts Mullein is very effective in drawing out
the toxins as well as relieving pain
· A poultice made of hot
onions put directly over the abscessed area
Add a few drops of an
essential oil of choice to the poultice for added effect.
How to make a poultice:
Dried Herb Poultice
Grind dried herbs into a
powder with a mortar and pestle, and add enough warm water to
make a paste. The paste should be thick enough to be applied
to the affected area, but it shouldn't be stiff.
Spread the herbal mixture over
a piece of gauze, cotton or muslin that is large enough for
the affected area. Clean the affected area before placing
the poultice on it, and wrap the poultice with a towel or
plastic wrap and secure it into place. Keep the poultice on
for anywhere from 1 to 24 hours depending applying a fresh
poultice as needed.
Fresh Herb Poultice
Chop up about 1/2 cup of the
fresh herb and mix with 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Simmer
herbs and water for about 2 minutes. Squeeze out excess
moisture, but don't drain. Spread the herbal mixture over a
piece of gauze, cotton or muslin that is large enough for
the affected area. Clean the affected area before placing
the poultice on it. Wrap the poultice with a towel or
plastic wrap and secure it into place.
Keep the poultice on for anywhere from 1 to 24 hours
depending applying a fresh poultice as needed.
Once the abscess has burst and pus has drained off, apply
a poultice of comfrey leaves or root.
