Product Note, October 2010  - Some have noted that with the original Life Long Vitality capsules there are two unpleasant aspects.  1) Some can taste an unwanted fish oil taste in the mouth as the capsules (xEOmega) are taken.  2)  Others experience some burping with the fish oil taste for some time after taking the capsule.  Here are comments on the solutions.

This is a summary of a comment received from Magda Machado-Garshol from Hong Kong in May 2011 - In relationship to the comment posted in regards to the bad fish taste and smell in the EOMega softgels, I read on this site that "Karen reports this from Rob Young, doTerra executive - he said doTerra is going to do something about the fish taste and odor on the next batch of xEOmega.

I am afraid that one way to stop with that nasty smell is to use Krill Oil (from the cold North oceans instead of commonly used fish oils, which become rancid sooner, quicker.) You can read about Krill Oil and the innovations to this type of product online. Then, the oil must be placed in caplets, or "fish gelatin capliques" not in softgels. They are air tight, and the oil inside stays fresh and wholesome longer, and does not go rancid.

Rob Young made this comment about the changes being made and krill oil - We have fixed the problem by going to a double-deodorized fish oil, going back to the gelatin capsule, and using more Peppermint in the formula. The smell in the bottle is not 100% scent-free, but it is close and there is no taste to the capsules.

BTW, people use Krill Oil for its carotenoid content. When you combine the 1 mg of astaxanthin to the 1000 mg of concentrated fish oil in our xEO Mega, you are getting a much better product. The krill eat the algae that contains the astaxanthin that builds up in their body. We get the astaxanthin right from the algae cultured in ultra-purified water with no chance of the build up of other toxins that can accumulate in krill. I don't have any problem with a pure krill oil, but I think our approach is better.

Vegetable or animal sources:

Most of dōTERRA's products are plant based.  The xEO Mega and IQ Mega contain fish oil. The xEO Mega, GX Assist, DDR Prime, and Peppermint beadlets contain gelatin capsules from an animal source for stability reasons. In the first three the gelatin is a bovine (cow) source and the peppermint beadlet is a porcine (pig) source. 

 

 What is the glycoprotein matrix?

Most of the vitamin supplements you see today are synthetic. For example Vitamin C is mass-produced in synthetic form and is also available in natural form as natural calcium ascorbic, or from acerola or other plant sources. The best supplements use these natural plant extracts.

DoTerra’s Rob Young is responsible for the development of the Life Long Vitality supplements and has worked in the supplement industry for a number of years and was diligent in assuring that these were the highest quality natural supplements available.  He also notes that our bodies do not absorb the vitamins if we do not have the proper conutrients and minerals with them. Without these the vitamins just pass through our body without being absorbed or our body utilizes its own minerals in order to utilize the vitamins. Hence these valuable conutrients are part of the Life Long Vitality supplements.

In the development he enlisted the help of some of the best supplement consultants in the world to develop a product that would deliver the best supplements and optimize the way they are absorbed into the body. The technique that is used is to start with raw whole food plant material; it is then processed using yeast into what is called the glycoprotein matrix. (This process is patented - US Patents # 6864231, 6942856, 7138113.) The yeast breaks down and retains the nutrients so that the body can then digest and absorb them. The body then treats these nutrients as food rather than foreign material like a synthetic vitamin.

[Just a note, this process was first developed and used by the veterinarian community over a number of years to provide high level nutrients for million dollar race horses. I think that reassure me!!! Not the first thing in health that was tested initially on animals I guess.]

Major changes from Alpha CRS® to Alpha CRS+®

• Added 100 mg Milk Thistle extract (Silymarin) that helps the body produce its own antioxidants.

• Increased Tumeric Root extract (Curcumin) to 30 mg

• Added 30 mg Boswellia serrata extract (trade name WOKVEL®)

• Added Pineapple extract (2400 GDU Bromelain protease enzyme) that reduces lactic acid.  If you do heavy physical work or exercise and afterwards feel the ache associated with lactic acid, this will help a lot.

• Took out the Green Tea (and Pomegranate extract and Bilberry extract)

• Added 200 mg Bacopa monnieri extract (BACOGNIZE®) that supports improved memory and focus while reducing stress and anxiety.

• The capsule is now a vegetable capsule

Major changes from EO Mega ® to xEO Mega ®

• Pronounced zee-o-mega

• Added 1 mg Astaxanthin (ASTAPURE®)  This is a carotenoid that passes the blood-brain barrier, adds muscle strength and endurance, plus supports the immune functions.  ASTAPURE® come from a company in the desert of Israel where they grow an algae in long glass tubes, the algae reacts to the UV light of the sun and produces an antioxidant to protect itself.  This red antioxidant is the harvested and processed for this product.

• Added 800 IU of natural vitamin D

• Added 60 IU of natural Vitamin E

• MOST IMPORTANT - The capsule itself is dramatically improved:

• The capsule is now smaller (you take 2 instead of 1)

• The capsule is now a vegetable liquicap

• The capsule includes a brand new technology called Nanosomal Lipic Assimilation System.  

• In simple terms this means that since many of the ingredients are oils or 'oil like' they normally go through the digestive system and the liver before being delivered to the cells of the body.  Nutrients are lost in this process./p>

• With the NLAS encapsulation each oil element is surrounded with water molecules (emulsified) and hence in the small intestine these elements are allowed to pass directly into the body without going thru the digestive process or thru the liver.  The important nutrients are delivered, without degradation, directly to the cells of the body.

Chris - My 22 yr old son started on the LLW supplements recently but has found that he is extremely tired since starting on them.  He is a healthy fit young man so I am surprised and wondering why?

Pat - My adult daughter also got tired when starting on the LLW.  I determined that she was having a detoxification reaction. I suggested she cut her dosage in half for a couple of weeks, drink lots of water with Lemon essential oil added (2 drops per 16oz.). After two weeks she went back to full dosage of the supplements and has done great ever since. She is not as consistent as she should be, but when she starts dragging she gets back on them. Sometimes with the oils and supplements it appears the body releases toxins that have built up and sometimes this is so rapid the body cannot keep up so we have to stop the oils and cleanse the liver for two weeks. The good thing is we are getting rid of the toxins. Then the supplements can bring their great balance to our bodies.

Becca - I need help please!  I have been breaking out in small patches of  hives for the last 7 - 8 months at least a few days a week.  Nothing  severe, but I have been trying to figure out what is causing them.  I  went to the doctor a couple months ago and he wanted me to take Zyrtec  everyday for a month and then if they came back, see an allergist.  That didn't seem like the right answer to me so I went to a Health Clinic. Through testing, they determined I was allergic to  almost all of my essential oils, except for the citrus ones and Breathe.  This  was DEVASTATING to me because I LOVE using the oils for my family and  sharing them with others.  I have seen so many great  results from them.  I'm just wondering if I could REALLY be allergic  to most of them, if they are really what is causing my hives.  I  stopped using them for a couple weeks and didn't notice any difference  in frequency or intensity of them.  If anyone has any answers, I would  LOVE to figure out what is going on with my body and still be able to  use these wonderful, amazing oils!

Steff - My sensitivities are not with oils, but with foods - so much that I'm bedridden for several days after eating a problem food.  Well, that was what happened BEFORE I started taking the Lifelong Wellness Supplements and PB Assist and GX Assist.  Now, if I eat gluten on accident, I do not have much of a reaction, which is a MIRACLE since I haven't been able to do this for over 10 years since being on a gluten-free diet. I strongly recommend you take the Lifelong Wellness Supplements daily and follow the advice and take the GX Assist for 7-10 days and then the PB Assist for 10 days...then a break for 7-10 days (but keep taking the wellness supplements), then start the program over again. Try introducing the oils back in every 3 or 4 weeks and see if the program does anything for relieving and eventually eliminating your symptoms entirely.

Rose - My husband is not overweight but his blood pressure was extremely high as well as his cholesterol levels. After one month on the LLW his blood pressure went way down and his cholesterol levels were cut in half!  Can't wait to see the results from the LLV.
